The Amazing Teacher Sally was another wonderful memoir that I worked on with the phenomenal @valeribarnes. This lovely little pocket size book was shepherded by the author’s son as a surprise gift for her. He brought her draft, collected writings, and a handful of photos to our little editor and book design team.
Projects like these bring me so much pleasure and fulfillment to work on. They remind me of my grandmother’s memoir that she was writing for most of my childhood — on a typewriter on the front veranda. One that I tried to help her get published during her life, and that I self-published for our family after her passing as a legacy document for all of us. I still open it whenever I want to hear her voice.
