Book designed for The Studio Press and their self-publishing author Kimberley Jones. Work included full cover and interior design, layout, revisions, and delivery of Print-on-Demand ready files and marketing images, as well as press-ready files for short run.
As the title suggests this is the personal memoir of a Taiwanese Canadian. The central visual was based on one of many ideas suggested by the author during our initial design consultation — something to represent both her heritage and Canada. I chose a font that had a western classical form but with hints of brush work to bring the two cultures together. The interior chapter pages also feature Mandarin chapter numbers as an added decorative element — that also references the author’s journey to reclaiming her birth language.
Kim’s memoir tracing her adoption and journey from Taiwan to Canada and her rediscovery of her birth family later in life is a wonderful story of resilience.
